Your Life Is A Tapestry.

Hello!

I saw the words “little threads” written somewhere the other day, and I can’t remember the place or context. However, I remember feeling moved by these two words because they reminded me that I was entirely responsible for my reality.

A collection of interwoven little threads will make a tapestry and is the perfect metaphor for life. Imagine that the little threads represent your thoughts and actions.  Your prominent thoughts and actions will determine the strength and appearance of your tapestry.

What are the dominant threads in your tapestry?

Suppose they are mostly made from threads of anger, bitterness, resentment, depression, selfishness, and impatience. In that case, your tapestry will reflect these negative emotions because the threads that made them are weak and drab.  In essence, you will have a tapestry that is monochrome, lifeless, and likely tangled.

If your dominant threads are made from compassion, kindness, openness, acceptance, joy, and happiness, your tapestry will be strong, dazzling, effervescent, and a masterpiece.

If you are unsatisfied with your current tapestry, you must look beyond your experiences and take note of your reactions to these experiences.  If your emotions are mostly negative, you will have a tapestry not worth hanging on a wall.

Unraveling a tapestry and going back and changing your threads is a daunting and unnecessary job.  Take a good look at your tapestry and see where you want to make changes; the best news is that you can start a brand-new tapestry and be very choosy and aware of the type of fabric you will intertwine to create your life.

Your challenging life experiences should be represented in your tapestry, and they can be woven together with other experiences.  Tapestries, like life, are imperfect, with knots, holes, and uneven fabric.  They can also be stunningly beautiful when made from high-quality fabrics, with the occasional fray or hole.

Take control of what you weave into your tapestry because you are the weaver of your own story.

I’m close to overusing the tapestry metaphor. I wanted to make the point about the power of our thoughts and actions and how you can change them and your life.  Perhaps you see this in a new way, which is what happened to me when I saw those words “little threads.

What does your tapestry look like?

Be well.
